Trip Introduction

Royal Bardia National Park is situated in the mid-Far Western Terai, east of the Karnali River covering an area of 968 sq. km. Royal Bardia National Park is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the Terai, providing excellent habitat for the following endangered species. Originally set aside in 1968 as a Royal Hunting Reserve, the area was gazetted in 1967 as Royal Karnali Wildlife Reserve with an area of 368 sq. km. It was renamed as Royal Bardia Wildlife Reserve in 1982 and extended to include the Babai River valley in 1984. National Park status was gazetted in 1988. The main objectives of the park are to conserve a representative ecosystem of the mid-Western Terai, particularly the tiger ad its prey species.

    Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Bardia, approx. 12 hrs, or flight in option,
    Day 02: Discover Tharu life and culture through via visiting Tharu village, culture tour and Tharu museum. As well as visit to the Crocodile breeding center in the day time,
    Day 03: Elephant back safari and afternoon jungle walking,
    Day 04: Early morning bird watching – followed by chance to relax or explore the surrounding village. Visit to the Elephant breeding center in the noon and after lunch departure back to Kathmandu.

    4 Nights / 5 Days Package:-

    Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Bardia, approx. 12 hrs, or flight in option,
    Day 02: Discover Tharu life and culture through via visiting Tharu village, culture tour and Tharu museum. As well as visit to the Crocodile breeding center in the day time,
    Day 03: Whole day walking safari to view Gangetic Dolphin where swimming is also possible,
    Day 04: Exploration of Tiger territory (Half day walking), afternoon Elephant back safari and visit to the Jeep Safari or rafting in option,
    Day 05: Early morning Bird watching followed by chance to relax or explore the surrounding village. Afternoon visit to the Elephant breeding center and departure to Kathmandu after lunch.
