Trip Introduction

In the year 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa from Nepal walked to the base camp of Mt. Everest only to make a historic and successful ascent to the summit of the highest peak in the world. Since then many adventurers have walked on the same trail that Hillary and Sherpa took to the Everest. Now, Everest Base Camp trek is the most famous trekking adventure in the Himalayas and one of the most sought after walking holidays in the world.

This epic Everest Base Camp Trek is a dream destination for many adventure lovers and they come from different parts of the world to make their dream come true in the Himalayas. The actual trek on the Everest trail begins after a small fixed-winged aircraft lands at the airstrip of Lukla, the gateway town for the trek also known as EBC trek. Then the trail passes along the bank of Dudh Koshi River and traverses many sections up and down the hill only to take you to the higher elevation. The trail passes through the Sherpa capital town of Namche and through Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Gorakshep and eventually makes it to the spectacular base of the world’s highest mountain. Although the trip has the name after the base camp, the most highlighted and spectacular place of the whole trip is Kalapatthar just above Gorakshep at the elevation of 5550 meters above sea level. One can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Himalayan range from this stunning view point.

After the Kalapatthar and Everest Base Camp thrill, the trek descends towards Pheriche, Khumjung, Namche, Monjo and eventually to Lukla to catch another adventurous flight back to Kathmandu only to find yourself in the chaos of urban life again. Although you are in hustle and bustle of the city, the impression of serene mountain atmosphere and stunning Himalayan views is so deeply imprinted in your mind and heart that the city chaos seems like non-existent to you.

Sign up for the trip of your life time and map the epic trail to the Everest Base Camp.

Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1400m)

Today is your arrival day in Kathmandu. Once you finish the custom and visa process and come outside at the airport in Kathmandu, you will find a person waiting for you with our company sign board. Follow him to the car and you will be driven to your hotel. Check in, relax and spend some leisurely time.

    Day 02: Kathmandu – Lukla (2860m) – Phakding (3620m)

Take an early morning flight to Lukla, the gateway town to the Everest trek. Flying for about 45 minutes enjoying spectacularly beautiful view of the middle hills and mountains of Nepal, we land at the airstrip of Lukla. We, then, meet our complete trekking crew at Lukla and proceed on our trek for the day towards Phakding. After a four hours’ trek on a gradual downhill trail, we reach the small village of Phakding on the bank of beautiful Dudh Koshi River.

    Stay overnight at a teahouse.

    Day 03: Phakding (3620m) – Namche (3440m)

The trek for the day today that starts after breakfast at the teahouse goes mostly uphill to Namche. We come across several suspension bridges that allow us to connect from one mountain to the other across rivers and gorges. The effort of the trek is rewarded by the spectacular beauty of Namche bazar and the view of the Himalayan peaks from here.  The stunning mountain peaks seen from this homeland of the famous Sherpas are… This homeland of famous climbing tribe Sherpa, who have the roots centuries back into Tibet, has become the ethnic Sherpa town for ages now when they migrated to the Everest region crossing the Himalayas.

Development of tourism activities in the Everest region has brought a significant change in the social and economic lives of Sherpa community as they have been the most preferred climbing assistants and trekking guides. All local Sherpa households of Namche bazar have been benefitted from the tourism industry as they have been able to run hotels at their own hometown.

    Stay overnight at Namche Bazar.

    Day 04: Acclimatization Day

We spend an extra night here at Namche Bazar as part of the acclimatization to the high altitude climate. We will take a day hiking trip to one of the hiking destinations in the area. We come back to Namche bazar for the overnight stay.

    Day 05: Namche (3440m) – Tengboche (3870m)

We walk to Tengboche today on an uphill trail to an even higher elevation today. We will be walking higher and higher on the trek for the next few days until we reach the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar. On reaching Tengboche and checking into a teahouse, we can explore the surrounding and Tengboche Monastery.

    Day 06: Tengboche (3870m) – Dingboche (4410m)

The trek from Tengboche to Dingboche is about 6 hours on a beautiful trail. We will walk past the beautiful mountain villages of Diboche and Pangboche which are also overnight stopover places in some of the trips. We walk on the trail across a river called Imja and reach Pangboche where we will have a short break to visit Pangboche monastery. After walking some distance on the Imja valley we finally start the ascent to Dingboche, the stopover place for today.

    Day 07: Acclimatization Day

As part of the acclimatization process on the high altitude climate, we are going to stay overnight at Dingboche today. We will hike up to a view point ridge behind Dingboche to find a spectacular view of high soaring mountain peaks including Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche. Several other mountain peaks are also visible from the point we hike to. Later, we hike down to Dingboche and relax.

    Day 08: Dingboche (4410m) – Lobuche (4940m)

We walk to Lobuche today after breakfast. Our walk today passes along the glacial moraine on Khumbu glacier. The walk will bring various mountain peaks into our view. The walk with the view of several spectacular mountains is worth the effort it takes.

    Stay overnight at Lobuche.

    Day 09: Lobuche (4940m) – Gorakshep (5164m) – Everest Base Camp (5364m)

We walk to Gorakshep from Lobuche today. The trail traverses up and down on the mountains and glacial moraine. Once we reach Gorakshep, we take lunch at the tea house we are staying tonight and proceed towards Everest Base Camp in the afternoon. We walk to the epic base of the highest mountain in the world. We walk to the new base camp of the Everest which is different than the old one where Hillary and Tenzing had camped before starting on their adventure journey towards the summit of the highest peak in the world.

After spending some quality time at the base camp, from where we can inhale fresh air from stunning mountains of Pumori, Khumbutse and Nuptse, we start our way back to Gorakshep for the stay overnight.

    Day 10: Gorakshep (5164m) – Kalapatthar (5550m) – Pheriche (4288m)

We go for an early morning hike up to the stunning view point of Kalapatthar at the elevation of 5545 meters above, which is also the highest elevation gain on this trek, for an excellent panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks right in front of us. Later we descend to Gorakshep and have our breakfast. We proceed on the trek for the day down to Pheriche to stay our overnight there.

    Day 11: Pheriche (4288m) – Namche (3440m)

The walk for the day on the trail leading us to lower elevation comes at stop when we reach Namche Bazar. The walk takes us through rhododendron and juniper forest. We can have some stunning views of Ama Dablam, Nuptseand Thamserku mountains from some points on the trail.

    Stay overnight at Namche.

    Day 12: Namche (3440m) – Lukla (2860m)

Today we map the Everest trail all the way back down to Lukla. We take the same trail we took to go up and come across several suspension bridges and walk past several local villages. Dudh Koshi River flow adds more beauty on the trail and makes the walk more enjoyable. And we eventually reach the town of Lukla where our trek to the Everest Base Camp comes to end.

We bid farewell to our supporting crew members expressing our thankfulness for everything they did to take us to the base camp of the world’s highest peak and bring us back safely. We stay overnight at Lukla today waiting for the flight back to Kathmandu tomorrow.

    Day 13: Lukla (2860m) – Kathmandu (1400m)

We take another adventurous flight back to Kathmandu. Before boarding the plane, we will have a look on the Everest region and be grateful for offering us such incredible days which will stay in memory forever. The flight takes us back to the chaotic charm of Kathmandu. We reach hotel; check in and spend the day at leisure or find some massage, yoga etc. to rejuvenate our somewhat tired body.

    Day 14: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour

We will take you for a historical and cultural sightseeing tour of Kathmandu after breakfast today. The tour will take you to some of the cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu valley. Those sites are Pashupatinath to see the Hindu cremation rituals on the bank of a holy river, Boudhanath which is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, Swoyambhunath famously known as monkey temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a medieval palace square where you visit the temple of living goddess, Kumari.

I took a trip with my brother to Nepal

I took a trip with my brother to Nepal and while Prem was working under other travel groups at the time, that doesn’t really matter. Prem is a senior tour guide. I literally witnessed him calling ahead to the various places ahead. There are many stops along the way where one can eat, but he made sure to make reservations to every spot we stopped at. You shouldn’t walk the mountain passes without someone like Prem. He’s the go-to guy to get what you need. If you get injured, he’ll get you a horse to ride. If the hotel books up, he’ll find another. Not only is Prem someone who knows everyone, he also knows the region. He knows all the mountains by name and will give you a few hours of history behind them. Don’t pass this experience up. As long as Prem is working, you should book with him, Tom R.

Everest Base Camp Trek (14 Days)

Prem is a great guy. Our (first) trekking group encountered a cyclone around 14,000 feet. Complicated, since some of our group were more intrepid than others and really wanted to press on to Base Camp. Prem eventually managed to unite the group, navigate back to Lukla, organize flights etc – your trek is unlikely to face such a complicated scenario but it’s nice to know he can handle whatever nature throws at him. Honest and trustworthy, you’ll be amazed how he knows almost everyone along the route.

I Trekked to Everest base camp in October 2015 Prem and his team were truly amazing, with so much knowledge and experience they made the 17 days feel like a walk in a spectacular park!!! From the moment we were met by Prem at Kathmandu Airport our adventure began, driven to our hotel , last minute shopping ,money exchanged, early morning Lukla flight , great accomadation, tea/lunch breaks with the most beautiful views . Prems ability to sense when someone needed something rest, water, slower pace, too hot/cold, headache, fevers, gave a real feeling of content knowing your safety was his priority (especially when passing loose landslides ,crossing one at a time whilst less experienced guides crossed whole groups at once!!! ) it was plain to see that Prem knew every step of this trek (and most of the locals along the way ) This was an amazing journey and I will be forever thankful to prem and his family for sharing their stunning country and giving me the trip of a lifetime.

Everest base camp was a beautiful experience

I went to Everest Base Camp with Prem in October 2015 and I loved it. I always felt safe and well looked after with Prem. I felt sorry for some of the other groups who had less experienced guides and werent enjoying their experience as a result. One morning, we were the only group to go out because the other guides werent confident enough to find the route through some snow. Prem is well respected by the locals (which stopped us getting ripped off as much) and is a genuinely caring and funny guy.

Trusted him with my child's life

I first trekked with Prem in 1995. Even then, he was caring, professional and an amazing trekking guide. 20 years later, I returned to Nepal to trek to Everest Base camp with my 14 year old son. Prem was there to meet us from the time the plane touched down. He arranged everything from the porters, assistants, transport, hotels and safety along the way. I trust this man with my child's life and look forward to trekking with my wonderful friend again soon. I wish Prem all the happiness and success in the world.

If you're planning to trek to Everest Base Camp, Prem is the man you want to show you the way. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and experienced, but's a genuinely lovely man who takes the greatest of care of everyone in the group. I trekked with him in 2013 and he made the experience so fun and memorable, for all the right reasons! He would work hard to ensure the best food and lodgings for us, one night even scoring us rooms with en-suites and hot showers! (Trust me, when you're out there you will understand how amazing it is). I felt so safe with him throughout the whole journey. His wisdom, passion and care make him an outstanding guide and the best person to help you experience what an amazingly beautiful place Nepal is.

If you want the best trekking experience in the Himalayas, give this company a go! You will have an amazing experience, made all the better by a professional team and the best trekking guide you could ever have the pleasure of meeting. I did the Everest Base Camp Trip and was lucky enough to have Prem Tamang as our trekking guide and I could not have been in safer hands!. I highly recommend Prem and his team!! You will not find a more experienced guide that will truly look after you from beginning to end. I plan to come back to Nepal again and there is noone else I would rather go with! Thank you for such a wonderful life changing experience.

Experience of Lifetime

I did the Everest Base Camp trek back in March 2013 and it was a truly amazing experience! Prem is the best guide you could hope for. He is kind, knowledgeable, experienced, has a great sense of humour and has a heart of gold. He kept a close eye on the health and safety of the entire group and took action when needed like organising a helicopter evacuation for a few sick members of the group. Altitude sickness can be dangerous and so I think it's very important to have someone experienced like Prem in charge. This is an experience of a lifetime and a unique way to experience Nepal and it's spectacular landscape, culture and beautiful people. Namaste!

EBC Trek with the Best

I had the pleasure of being on a trek to EBC led by Prem in October 2016. During the trek Prem demonstrated his enormous levels of skill and experience. Originally beset with weather related delays Prem was able to negotiate and re-arrange our flights and all our accommodation to ensure that once we got to Lukla we could fully enjoy our trek. Perm shared his clear love and local knowledge as the trek progressed. He ensured that both individually and collectively we had the best experience that we could whilst always ensuring our safety. He made sure we took all precautionary measures to make sure we didn't get ill and that we didn't take risks when we encountered parts of the trail that were less safe. When times get tough, and everybody gets a low point, Prem was sure to lift our spirits with his infectious boyish giggle. For anyone considering a trek to EBC I cannot recommend Prem and his wonderful team enough.

Prem is the best guide in Nepal

I conducted an the EBC trek with Prem back in October 2014 and it was the most amazing experience. Without a doubt the experience would not be the same without the expert guidance and Prem Tamang. I couldn't recommend conducting a Nepal experience with Adventure Mountain Nest. I already have my next trip planned and booked with then to summit Island Peak and Lobouche East in March 2017. I could imagine doing it with anyone else.

Prem's experience and local knowledge incredible

I trekked with Prem (owner of adventure mountain nest) for the Base Camp Trek in 2014. I'm a former military guy with a great deal of mountaineering time myself, and I found Prem's experience and local knowledge incredible. Everywhere we went the locals loved him, he is well know and a very very likeable guy which made the trip even more enjoyable. I would totally recommend adventure mountain nest and plan to bring my own UK client base back in October 2015 using Adventure Mountain Nest's services.

One of the nicest most genuine people I've ever met, and an extremely professional guide.

We had Prem as our guide a couple of years ago and he was as good as it gets, I felt so privileged that I was in his group. Every cluster of houses we came to the locals rushed out to shake his hand, I asked one of our porters if Prem knew everyone, he told me, everyone knows him because he was the best and most famous guide in Nepal. He became a personal friend to everyone in our group. One of the nicest most genuine people I've ever met, and an extremely professional guide.

He is tops - kind, caring, helpful, knowledgeable, and with a delightful sense of humor

Don't waste your time searching for anyone better than Prem. He is tops - kind, caring, helpful, knowledgeable, and with a delightful sense of humor. The porters on his staff are similarly excellent, always aware of your needs and location. Prem is patient and allows trekkers to hike at their own pace because there is always an assistant at the end of the pack. So if you want to soak in the beauty and take 100 photos while others are racing to the top, no problem. I would use no one other than Prem, and I sincerely hope to return to Nepal someday and travel with Prem as my guide.

Everest Base Camp Awesome trip ever

2016 & 2017 Joined this trip with Hybrid Boot camp with my partner Owen. Both trips lead by Prem from Adventure Mountain Nest and his team of assistances. These trips were both challenging rewarding and the best adventure that we ever had. The guides were fantastic and the scenery just blows you away. The Nepalese people are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Meeting so many different trekkers on the way and enjoying others peoples stories you meet in the tea houses. This is a life time opportunity,is a must to every to learn this culture fascinating and the best person for the job is Prem and his team. We will return again to the other side of Nepal in the future.
