Tsum Valley trek in the Manaslu region of the Himalayas is an amazing trek that is picking up on its popularity. As a less explored area, Tsum valley offers a wonderfully peaceful and incredible experience of travelling in the Manaslu region. Trekking to this region is a beautiful experience of mixture of natural and cultural wonders of the region. When you trek in the region, you can observe the lifestyle of local tribes up close and enjoy the spectacular magical views of the Himalayas.
Multiple days of trekking in the region that goes through several beautiful local villages, towns and amazing landscapes bring a serene pleasure of adventure in the Himalayas. We start the trek on the same trail that takes adventurers to Manaslu Larkya La trek but take a different trail from the third day onwards to enter the incredible Tsum valley and enjoy the magic that trekking in the area brings.
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival – 1400 m
Today is your arrival day in Kathmandu. Once you finish the custom and visa process and come outside at the airport in Kathmandu, you will find a person waiting for you with our company sign board. Follow him to the car and you will be driven to your hotel. Check in, relax and spend some leisurely time.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
We will take you for a historical and cultural sightseeing tour of Kathmandu after breakfast today. The tour will take you to some of the cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu valley. Those sites are Pashupatinath to see the Hindu cremation rituals on the bank of a holy river, Boudhanath which is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, Swoyambhunath famously known as monkey temple and Kathmandu Durbar Square which is a medieval palace square where you visit the temple of living goddess, Kumari.
Day 03: Kathmandu – Sotikhola
We drive to Sotikhola today. This around nine hours of drive will take us to the destination via beautiful countryside of Nepal. The drive brings us some spectacular views of the middle hills and high snowcapped mountains in the Himalayas as well. We drive to Dhadingbesi and then drive further to Sotikhola via Aarughat bazar. While drive past these and other several local towns, we can notice the cultural lifestyle of the people living in there and in the countryside.
Stay overnight at Sotikhola.
Day 04: Sotikhola – Machha Khola
The real adventure of trekking in the Manaslu begins today after breakfast. We go past some beautiful ethnic Gurung villages on the trail where we can get a bit of glimpse of their cultural lifestyle. We trek past beautiful terraced paddy fields, forest and many other spectacular landmarks in the area. Once we reach Machha Khola, we check into a guest house and relax.
Day 05: Machha Khola – Jagat 1410m
The second day of the trek will take us to a beautiful village called Jagat. We will have chance to walk through beautiful landscapes for about seven hours before we reach Jagat. We walk past a natural hot spring and cross many suspension bridges on the way. It is a very good experience of natural wonders and culture of the rural Nepal. On reaching Jagat, we check into a guest house and relax.
Day 06: Jagat – Chisapani – 1660 m
We trek to Chisapani today. Chisapani literally translates as “Cold water” which suggests that we are moving towards a higher elevation. We trek past several beautiful villages enjoying their cultural and natural setting. After trekking for about five hours, we reach the beautiful Chisapani to stay overnight today.
Day 07: Chisapani – Chumling – 2386 m
The trek today is very scenic as we can enjoy spectacular view of snow-capped mountains like Boudha Himal, Himachuli in the Himalaya. The walk to Chumling today is going to take us around seven hours. The trail passes through beautiful forested area and several villages. Once we reach Chumling, we check into a guest house and relax.
Day 08: Chumling – Chokhangparo – 3010 m
The trek to Chokhangparo today brings us an incredible view of Ganesh Himal. The day is beautiful as we experience an amazing mixture of culture and nature on the trail. Walking past several villages on the trail like Gho village, Tsum etc. we reach Chokhangparo after about five hours. After reaching Chokhangparo, we check into our accommodation and relax.
Day 09: Chokhangparo – Nile – 3361 m
We walk to Nile today after breakfast. The six hours of walk today will take us to Nile via several other villages like Lar, Phurbe Chhule etc. We also trek past Rachen Gumba, a beautiful Buddhist monastery, on the very first section of the trek today. After traversing winding trail through these amazing landmarks and landscapes, we reach the village of Nile to stay overnight today.
Day 10: Nile – Mu Gompa – 3700
It is a comparatively shorter trekking day today. We trek just about three hours to reach Mu Gompa where we are going to stay overnight. By the time we are in Mu Gompa, we will be already at the elevation of 3700 meters above sea level. Mu Gompa is a small yet beautiful mountain village near Nepal Tibet border with amazing Buddhist culture. Once we reach Mu Gompa, we explore the area for a while and stay overnight there.
Day 11: Exploration Day at Mu Gompa
We stay here today and explore the monasteries and other areas in the surrounding. Visiting to the Buddhist monastery will give us some insight on how people living there practice their spirituality and exploring the surrounding area in the village will bring us an idea of their cultural tradition. The day today at Mu Gompa is full of amazing cultural, natural and spiritual revelation.
Day 12: Mu Gompa – Burgi – 3245 m
From today onwards, we are going to make our journey to lower elevation. As we walk to Burgi village today, we will go past villages of Chhula and Phurbe. Burgi village has a cave where a Tibetan Budhhist Saint, Milarepa, is believed to have meditated. Once we reach the Burgi village we can go to explore the cave. We stay overnight at Burgi today.
Day 13: Burgi – Chumling – 2386 m
We trek to Chumling village today. We will walk for about six hours to reach Chumling. We are going down to a lower elevation from 3245 m to 2386 m so we are walking mostly on downhill trail. Stay overnight at Chumling.
Day 14: Chumling – Philim – 1570 m
It’s a long day today when we trek to Philim. After about seven hours of trek through beautiful villages and landscapes, we reach the destination today. We stay overnight at Philim today.
Day 15: Philim – Khorlabesi – 970 m
We are walking even further down to lower elevation to Khorlabesi. We walk past the village of Jagat. It is another seven hours of walk today to Khorlabesi. Stay overnight at Khorlabesi.
Day 16: Khorlabesi – Soti Khola – 700 m
Another beautiful day of walk today, we trek back to Sotikhola and stay overnight there.
Day 17: Soti Khola - Kathmandu
We trek back to Arughat for 4 hours and drive back to Kathmandu. It’s another day of scenic drive today and we still get to see beautiful countryside and some spectacular views of the Himalayas before we reach Kathmandu. Once we reach Kathmandu, we go to hotel, check in and relax at leisure.
Day 19: Departure Day
Get ready at the hotel lobby 3 hours prior to your flight time and we will transfer you to airport for your departure flight.
