Amadablam Expedition

Ama Dablam is a picturesque mountain located in the famed Khumbu region of the Himalayans in eastern Nepal. The main mountain stands high at height of 6,812m and another one, western peak is 6,170m.

Two long ridges spreading on each side looks like a mother’s arm shielding her children. The hanging glacier is thought of as Dablam, a traditional pendant worn by Sherpa women. Thus, the name Ama Dablam literally means “Mother’s Jewel Box” in the Sherpa language.

The striking peak was first successfully climbed on 13 March, 1961 by mountaineers Mike Ward, Mike Gill and Wally Romanes through the southwestern ridge. A team led by legendary mountaineer Edmund Hillary had attempted to scale the mountain for the first time but were almost imprisoned by government officials for trying to climb the holy mountain without permission.

Ama Dablam dominates the eastern skyline mostly, giving us with spectacular view of the silvery peaks all along our journey. On our way to our destination, we will be gratified by equally stunning beauty of the region such as Namche Bazaar, Dudh Koshi Valley and Thyangboche. We will also be able to get the absolutely gorgeous view of the Everest, Tawache, Kangtega, Amadablam and Lhotse.

The Ama Dablam climbing timetable has been composed efficiently considering continuous acclimatization at levelheaded interims. Before scaling the mount, we will trek to the one of the most well-known trekking destinations on the entire planet – Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,570m). From here we can have the most amazing view of the splendid eastern Himalayans famous around the globe for its unscathed beauty. The Ama Dablam Climb begins with a flight to Lukla Airport, one of the most dangerous airports of all time.

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most favorable time to climb the peak. Although, it is not impossible to climb in the winter, it is advised not to, as there are good chances of heavy snowfall in the region.
